JOB DESCRIPTION/CHARACTERISTICS<br>
Under direction, the Supervising Evidence Technician plans, organizes, assigns, supervises and reviews the work of Evidence Technicians in the Stockton Police Department; performs related work as assigned.<br>
This is a single position police civilian supervisory class in the evidence technician series responsible for the coordination and supervision of crime evidence collection, evidence processing, and other City/Department activities relating to public education on crime evidence preservation and collection. The incumbent is responsible for recommending policy, developing goals and objectives, providing work assignments and direction, employee training and evaluation, and resolving day-to-day work issues. <br>
This position is included in the civil service system and is represented by a bargaining unit.<br>

REQUIREMENTS<br>
Education/Experience:<br>
Possession of a high school diploma or GED and three (3) years experience performing duties at a level equivalent to the City of Stockton’s Evidence Technician II. The Evidence Technician II has experience handling evidence and/or property and applies basic photography skills in a law enforcement setting. Lead or supervisory experience is desirable.<br>

Other Requirements:<br>
<br>
Must possess a valid California Class C driver license at time of hire. <br>
Must be available for 24-hour call back. <br>
Must be willing to handle firearms. <br>
<br>
Prior to appointment, eligible candidates will be required to submit to and successfully pass a drug screen and background investigation, which will include fingerprinting.<br>

THE POSITION:<br>

The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff has requested that an eligible list be established to fill Sheriff Ranger vacancies. This is an excellent employment opportunity for individuals interested in beginning a law enforcement career. Individuals appointed to these positions are responsible for providing non-sworn facility security and field patrol services in designated buildings, health clinics, courthouses, parks, or special districts. Sheriff’s Rangers are non-sworn personnel reporting to sworn personnel. Responsibilities performed by Sheriff’s Rangers include monitoring electronic security and screening devices, observing, identifying, and reporting violations and emergencies to sworn personnel, as well as providing directions and answering questions from the public and issuing citations for parking, fishing, or boating violations. The employment list established by this examination will remain in effect for six months.<br>

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:<br>
 <br>
License Required: Possession of a valid California motor vehicle operator’s license. Valid, out-of-state motor vehicle operator’s license will be accepted during the application process. <br>
Education: Possession of a high school diploma, GED equivalency, or a high school proficiency certificate. <br>
Other Requirements: Ability to pass a background investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office prior to employment.<br>

2. Oral Interview:  An oral interview will be conducted by a Qualifications Appraisal Board in Martinez, CA. The board will evaluate candidates in job-related areas. Candidates must receive a rating of at least 70 from a majority of the Board members to be ranked on the employment list. (Weighted 40%)<br>
